Vini Lopez is the most legendary drummer out of Asbury Park, NJ. Vini played drums with Bruce Springsteen in in the late 60’s and early 70’s in such bands as Child, Steel Mill, Doctor Zoom and The Sonic Boom, the Bruce Springsteen Band and eventually the E Street Band.
“Mad Dog” Vini Lopez was Bruce Springsteen’s right hand man when it came to drums throughout his rise from Asbury Park, NJ. Lopez was instrumental in forming the band that would be come the legendary E Street Band along with Danny Federici, Garry Tallent, and Clarence Clemons.
Bruce Springsteen was signed to Columbia Records in 1972 and released his first two records, “Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ” and “The WIld, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle” the following year, in 1973.
Vini Lopez recorded drums on both of Springsteen’s first two albums and toured relentlessly in promotion for these records. This early period between 1972-1974 is considered among some, as Springsteen’s “Golden Era”. Vini Lopez has had the pleasure of knowing, touring with, and being fired by one of the biggest Rock and Roll Legends in History.
